My Grandfather said...

After reading a section in Mr Yang Cheng-Fu's book, where he recounts his grandfathers advice about learning Taichi, I thought about something my Grandfather said to me when I was just a boy.

You see my brother and I lived with our Grandparents for a short time when we were 9 and 10 years old, or there-abouts.

During a lesson on how to shoot a rifle, and he also used this lesson when he taught me to play pool (billiards)... he said to "Always take the easy shot first, don't risk loosing an opportunity to hit your target / score by trying to be clever and going after a harder shot" - Norman Wood.

I have found this bit of advice to be so helpful over the years and very true, simplicity and directness is the path to quick, if not sure, victory.
