It's tough, just not impossible

Well finally got to class this week, and boy was I in for a surprise, I kind of thought I was doing pretty good there for a bit, but this week i got a reminder how Taiji can be a challenge.

It's no big problem though, for the past week I have felt a little out of touch with it, lost my equilibrium so to speak.

But with all the corrections this week I feel as though I have plenty to work on now, some of them are simply things I have forgotten, and others are bad habits from years ago, plus Master Yek shed some light on a couple of the exercises, so all in all a great night.

It's a bit tough on the ego, but thats part of the Tao I guess, just let it go, don't stand in your own way when a teacher is trying to help you.

Notes for Thursday 9th December.

- In the exercises, more weight separation and sinking.
- In the 42form...
- opening, hands should be by the sides, closed. As you step out you open each arm separately.
- when turning to the right, remain 50/50 weight on feet... curently shifting weight (something I added, in error, when outside on rough ground to free up the feet)
- left ward off, keep elbows down, thumbs up, hands level with fingers slightly splayed. right hand should be down but in front of the body to the side, not back by the hip. opps.
- right ward off, same note as for left ward off.
- roll back and press, ensure elbows and shoulders are down and relaxed, not up and sticking out. A taiji friend suggested a change for the press and I liked it, but for Sing Ong Taichi it's incorrect... opps. hehe
- single whip left, each part of it needs to be clearer and precise, I seem to have smoothed it over a bit much, also my step out was more a step up and forward, which is incorrect, the technique doesn't shift forward but raises and rolls out, as in a wave.

That's as far as we got last night, but more than plenty for me to work on this week, and for the holidays i think... need to double my efforts to ensure I have fixed these things before next class.
